Isn?t bookkeeping just plugging one or two figures into a P. C. programme?
In short, NO!
It never fails to amaze me what number of people out there and in business think that all bookkeepers do is enter figures into a P. C. programme which then miraculously spits out a perfect set of accounts.
Hmm, if only!!
Bookkeeping, or in a sense good bookkeeping, is a lot more concerned than just pumping numbers into a program and it's a misguided a real long shot notion that bookkeepers are just glorified information entry operators! Good bookkeepers will be a handy asset to your business. Good bookkeepers know the way to enter figures into a P. C. programme properly, or write up a ledger, but as significantly, they know exactly where and how those figures should be entered.
Attempting to disentangle a mess that a non-bookkeeper has made is a lengthy thing! It?s something that we at Bookkeeper?s Base do all the time. Sadly for many business owners it isn?t till a they are in a state of despair because they haven't any idea of what is occurring in their business.

Personally, it gives me and my team a great feeling of satisfaction to be able to take a total data entry mess and change it into a neat, tidy and correct set of accounts. Nonetheless with any service which adds some value it includes a financial investment, and in my viewpoint, it's an investment worth making and sadly (hindsight being 20/20) one that would've been better used in contracting a bookkeeper from the word go and not having a untidy situation in the first place. It?s no coincidence that once a business has engaged a pro bookkeeper and has easy to read profit & loss statements as well as a solid understanding of how their money is being utilized , that these business owners become firm switches to using a bookkeeper.
Think of a bookkeeper as you would an accountant. A bookkeeper will assist you with your business and will make your accountant?s job far simpler.
You wouldn?t get your office helper to do your taxation assessment for you, so why would you let them run blindfolded with the financial information that goes into it?
