California Criminal Records Available Online

By Ben Kingsley

CA Criminal records comprises of reports generated by a number of law enforcing agencies of California. These reports can be police reports, arrest, drugs and even reports for traffic violations. All of these reports have one thing in common: they all contain details about the offenses that a resident of California has committed.

If a resident of California has violated the laws of the state or nation, that individual would have a criminal record issued to him in the form of the reports mentioned earlier. This report would have details of what the person has violated. Criminal records in California would show where and when the crime took place. One would also know information about how the person was placed under custody. The name of the official who reported the incident is also indicated on the file. The document is not complete without the personal details of the person involved such as the complete name and the birth details. In some reports, a mug shot is even available for public access.

Residents of California request for a copy of a criminal record to verify the identity of the people that surrounds them. They check on the criminal background of the people they interact with daily to make sure that they are living in a safe and secured place. Business owners also use this document to make sure that they only have qualified people working for them. By doing so, the business can eventually avoid any major issues from arising in the future brought about by the unqualified employee. Investigators as well as authorities of the state would refer to this document when they conduct a case investigation.

Unfortunately, making the criminal records public or open for public access poses a problem to the person involved. Those who previously have a criminal history are having difficulties landing a good job. Many have reported that they experienced discrimination and unfair treatment from their colleagues and bosses and they are the last to be promoted. This is the reason why people who have minor criminal charges prefer to expunge or seal their records from public access.

The criminal record is only released if the one who filed the request is the person himself. A court order has to be secured in order to be allowed access the files of other people. One has to fill out an application form complete with the information about the document being requested. Also, the application form should have the personal details of the one who filed the request. One can get the document at the office of the Department of Public Safety in the state of California. The said office accepts mailed-in request but this is not recommended for those who urgently seek the document as it can take several days before the document is obtained.

Since the Internet was developed, a lot of research and improving was done to be able to utilize it to its maximum and with this the government has used it to share information to the people. The Internet has helped shorten the retrieval time for requesting criminal records free to public. With this, there is no need to go to any office which makes the retrieval hassle free.
